About the Owner:

I am an old (85!) mail order man. Back in the day, I ran classified and display adsin publications such as Popular Science, Popular Mechanics, Opportunity Salesmanand Work Basket.

I designed a bookkeeping system for public bookkeeping and promoted it for aboutseven or eight years. One of the features of the system was how to advertise for bookkeeping clients.

Eventually, I took my own advice and mailed 1,000 cards to small Chicago businesses.This venture brought in 8 intial clients -- and I did no more direct advertising!

Some present-day entrepreneurs use a combination of internet and media adversiting. I've tried pay-per-click and decided there must be a better way.

I like newspaper and magazines that offer a combination of classified and online advertising.E-mail advertising is booming -- combined with SPAM, some groups you join will bring over 2,000 e-mails per day. There's no way you can read them all!
